Kim Deacon's passionate musical and dramatic performance introduces us to the goldmining town of Hill End, where Kim lives and the largest gold nugget in the southern hemisphere was found.
Also to the neighbouring town of Gulgong where young poet Henry Lawson was growing up. Kim takes you on a journey through this fascinating era, examining the life of Lawson and the amazing women who surrounded him.
Kim has set 10 Lawon poems to music and accompanying herself on the harp, banjo, guitar and piano, along with a spirited narrative, archival footage and soundscape.
Taking us through on a journey of encountering the sweet sorrows from this tumultuous time, a fascinating time in Australian history from Goldrush to Federation.
