Fear of Forgetting
Steven Cavanagh who was recipient of the Hill End Artist in residence program in 2010 and the National Art School residency in 2013 through Bathurst Regional Art Gallery has curated in partnership with Paul McDonald of CONTACT SHEET gallery an insightful exhibition, that challenges the way we see photography.

a tale of Kate Kelly's intriguing and tragic life. A resourceful, brave
and talented woman, Kate played a big part in the legend of the Ned
Kelly.
Kate
Kelly adored her brothers and assisted them while they were hiding out,
riding as a decoy and a messenger. She met with the Governor of
Victoria and marched in the streets of Melbourne to try and to spare Ned
Kelly's life. For a short time after Ned's death she travelled with her
brother Jim and performed to huge crowds. They were shut down by the
police and mocked in the press.
Kate
lived out the last fourteen years of her life in Forbes. She married
William "Bricky" Foster and they had six children but only three
survived. She died under mysterious circumstances when she was only 36
years old. Missing for over a week, Kate's body was found in the lake in
October, 1898. An inquest found that Kate had drowned but it was
unclear how she ended up in the water.
This book is a great introduction to the life & times of Kate Kelly but also explains the wider Kelly story and can be enjoyed as a family or individually for adults and teenagers.

Ginger Riley, Rover Thomas, John Wolseley and more, the exhibition brings into focus our evolving attitudes and perceptions of the national landscape over the past twenty five years. Conceived and assembled by curator Gavin Wilson.
Gavin Wilson and Maggy Todd in partnership with Bathurst Regional Art Gallery set up the artist in residency program at Hill End with Murrays cottage and Haefligers cottage that has been successfully running for 20 years with artists coming from around Australia and internationally.
